Evelyn
"Evelyn"
written by Roger ParkerEvelyn
You traveled alone all those years
After he passed
You packed the house up
Leaving behind your happiness
Before you fled
You visited with a rose
By the sea, you said goodbye
Evelyn
Looking back you bottled your joy
An aborted child
Joy became
Quickly forgotten
But reflected
Occasionally regretted
You visited the woods often
Sitting on the same stump
You allowed the nymphs to visit daily
They spoke in their broken tongue
The culture, it leathered your skin
